It seems that politicians in the US are exempt from insider trading laws. An interesting CBS video on how that screws things up:
Our politicians don’t even have to reveal information the way the US folks do (which is how people find out they’ve bought stock or got in on an IPO etc.) I wonder if they also make shady trades that smack of insider knowledge, only that they’re at the government or parliament end passing or denying laws that affect industry. And then I wonder if someone will do an expose. Finally, I wonder how much they will get as blackmail to not release such an expose to the public.
