We’ve seen bank results out there and we have a quick chart for you of the margins that banks have made in the last quarter.

As an average, NIMs have fallen from 3% to 2.91% (Year on Year)

The best banks remain Kotak, HDFC, Axis and DCB in terms of Net Interest Margin (interest earned minus interest paid, on total deposits)

The worst in the quarter was IDBI Bank.

Most banks seem to have seen a fall in NIMs compared to Q1 2014. The exceptions are Kotak, DCB, ICICI and Allahabad Bank.

NIMs present one part of the picture. However, the bigger picture is about NPAs. Another post on that very soon!
