Fed raises rates, FinMin raises taxes, What we are reading & More
Crude is back to a point where it was before the Russia-Ukraine war and hence you see that big red horizontal candle at 1Y time frame, in the below chart. This week, Nifty 50 was down 1% and is flat over the last 1 year while other asset classes were up marginally. A snapshot of the market for the last week by looking at the sectors that did well and worst. This week, Pharma & FMCG, were up a little while the overall market fell. On the other hand, IT, Metal, and Realty indices were the biggest losers. Interesting to see IT index falling by 24% over the last year, while it has had a fantastic run in the last 5 years.

"What the market teaches you is humility. That you can take nothing for granted, and that value is a figment of your imagination. Investing decisions, therefore are ticking time bombs. We all make mistakes and that’s just fine. But we would be stupid to not admit when we are wrong. Humility is the first thing the market teaches you – you earlier learn it fast, or it will be the last thing the market teaches you." On Teachers' Day, members of the incredible Capitalmind Premium community share their biggest learnings from the markets. Novice or Experienced veteran, Investor or Trader, you will find some incredible food for thought here.

CAMS IPO: Should you invest?
Computer Age Management Services Limited (CAMS) has filed DRHP with the SEBI for its upcoming IPO. We take a look to see if one should subscribe. Penetration of mutual funds in India is 11% as compared to the world average of 55%. Majority of financial savings are in physical assets. Increase in penetration rates of mutual funds and a shift in savings from physical assets to financial assets provides a huge runway for companies like CAMS. CAMS has 70% market share in a two player market, favourable return ratios and not much need for capital investments. Albeit expensive at the IPO offer price, the growth runway and current duopoly make this an attractive issue to subscribe.
