Podcast: Why SEBI should implement India's EDGAR and more
Recently, as of 7th September 2022, total Demat accounts in India touched the 10 crore mark. This is a staggering increase from 40 crore Demat accounts in Mach 2020. This alone is a testimony of increased participation and inclusion of individuals in Indian markets. More and more Indians, especially youngsters, are taking to investing in equities enabled by their smartphones - digital broking, increased information access, and social media influence. The whole securities (stock) market ecosystem has evolved immensely over the past decade and deserves a lot of credit for the recent growth in the participation of new investors. At the helm of the ecosystem sits our regulators who are responsible to enable, guide, protect and watch the market participants to ensure that we have a fair and thriving market. In this episode, Deepak and Shray talk about the role SEBI can play in shaping the future of the markets. They talk about data warehousing, data accessibility, regulatory enhancements, bond markets, disclosures & reporting, and a lot more that would make our markets more accessible.

Podcast: Is it a good time to invest in gold?
🎙New Podcast In this episode, Deepak and Shray unravel different aspects related to investing in gold. Gold has been around as a store of value for a couple of millennia, probably longer, because of how little there is and how difficult it is to get out of the earth. Now get this - all the Gold mined would fit in a crate with sides of 21 meters. That’s roughly the length of three and a half standard containers. Yet, in the last decade, this scarce and loved asset class has done just enough to match inflation. This means, adjusted for inflation, gold has returned nothing! Now, after putting returns of gold into perspective, we get on to the theme of our podcast - Does it make sense to invest in Gold? We look at gold from different lenses while we determine: - If gold is a hedge against inflation? - Can gold protect you in a crisis like war? - Is gold investment to create long-term wealth? - What's an efficient way to invest in gold?

The Best Nifty Index Fund in 2021
The largest mutual fund in India is the SBI Nifty Index Fund (ETF). This fund has 119,000 cr. in AUM. The next largest fund is the SBI Sensex fund (ETF) with 60,000 cr. These are "index funds", where the fund manager simply follows an index, versus an "active" fund where a fund manager thinks deeply and decides which stocks to buy. So what are index funds? What if we said that when it comes to evaluating index funds, expense ratios do not matter? Real Expense Ratios matter, and you won't find that on the fund factsheet, and definitely not in the marketing presentation. In this post, we get into the details of how to evaluate and pick the best index fund. Also, which is the best NIFTY Index fund and best NIFTY ETF in 2021.

ICICI Prudential NIFTY Low Vol 30 ETF FoF: Should you invest?
ICICI Prudential Mutual Fund has launched an NFO (New Fund Offering) for a passive equity fund of fund based on their existing NIFTY Low Vol 30 ETF. The NFO will open from 23rd March to 6th April 2021. We took a look to see if it makes sense for investors. Short Answer: We like this index, a lot. The NIFTY 100 Low Volatility 30 index, on which this passive ETF and Fund of Fund are based, has handily outperformed the NIFTY 100 over the last 16 years by almost 400 bps per year. It has done this with lower overall volatility and better drawdowns. This outperformance has been consistent: Over three-year holding periods, the NIFTY Low Vol 30 index outperforms 89% of the time. Over five-year holding periods, it outperforms 99% of the time. This is easily than almost every available actively managed fund. For the investor new to the idea of rule-based portfolio selection strategies, the ICICI Prudential NIFTY 100 Low Vol 30 Fund of Fund is an excellent way to get started. Read on for our detailed review.

Premium: Making Money From The Stupidity of ETF Investors?
Sometimes you see a Rs. 100 note on the ground. And you wonder, is it real? If it was real, wouldn't someone else have picked it up? Or if I bend down to pick it up, will someone steal my wallet? Can I phone a friend or take an audience poll? Life isn't a TV quiz, and sometimes you just take out your wallet, pick up the note from the ground and put it inside. One such "free lunch" is currently on.
