Macronomics: Should you lock in long term yields now?
The RBI has raised rates by 0.5%, which seems quite expected, but it is quite positive in the way things have been put by the RBI. This is quite an interesting point for the fixed income markets, where rates are up 2% (200bps) in 5 months. Should you be locking in these "juicy" rates?

Podcast: Why SEBI should implement India's EDGAR and more
Recently, as of 7th September 2022, total Demat accounts in India touched the 10 crore mark. This is a staggering increase from 40 crore Demat accounts in Mach 2020. This alone is a testimony of increased participation and inclusion of individuals in Indian markets. More and more Indians, especially youngsters, are taking to investing in equities enabled by their smartphones - digital broking, increased information access, and social media influence. The whole securities (stock) market ecosystem has evolved immensely over the past decade and deserves a lot of credit for the recent growth in the participation of new investors. At the helm of the ecosystem sits our regulators who are responsible to enable, guide, protect and watch the market participants to ensure that we have a fair and thriving market. In this episode, Deepak and Shray talk about the role SEBI can play in shaping the future of the markets. They talk about data warehousing, data accessibility, regulatory enhancements, bond markets, disclosures & reporting, and a lot more that would make our markets more accessible.

Podcast: Turbulent times - RBI thrives, Fed fumbles
. Markets are slaves of earnings and liquidity. Liquidity has taken prominence after the coronavirus outbreak. At first, central banks across the world increased liquidity by cutting rates and helping their populace to live through the pandemic. Then the after effects of increasing liquidity hit - increased inflation. Now, the same banks are sucking out liquidity by increasing interest rates to counter inflation. The looming after effect of increasing rates is the "r" word that is too pious to speak loudly. In this podcast, Deepak & Shray discuss the two central banks that impact us the most - RBI and FED (Federal Reserve System, USA). What makes this podcast interesting is that we are looking at everything from the lens of who does better - FED or RBI? .

Chase Monthly Fact Sheet: Jan 2021
January 2021 turned out to be an interesting month, where we had a long trade which continued from last week of December'20 to mid of Jan'21. For Chase long trades matter more than short ones. A week of choppiness, which we expected after a longish trade and then market started cracking. The fall in the markets was largely hedged by the active futures component.

Momentum Monthly Fact Sheet: Nov 2020
Being up 3-odd percent should normally be an acceptable month but 2020 has hardly been a "normal" year. That is when compared to the index which was up 11% in November. Going by November performance, a more appropriate name for this portfolio should've been the Drowsy Portfolio. But we'll hold off on renaming the portfolio just yet.

Chase Monthly Fact Sheet: Oct 2020
Returns Update October started on a positive note, with the index touching 12,000, of which the system could capture close to 600 points on the active component, then came the whipsaws, taking us out of trades, leading to one of the longest losing streaks of the year. With losses kept in check, we managed to close the month positive.

Axis Global Equity Alpha Fund of Fund: Should you invest?
Axis Mutual Fund has launched an NFO (New Fund Offering) for a Fund of Funds investing globally. The NFO is open from 4th to 18th September 2020. We took a look to see if it makes sense for investors. Investing globally should be an essential part of an Indian investor's asset allocation strategy. But the Schroder Global Equity Alpha Fund (the underlying fund this Fund of Funds invests in), has struggled to beat its benchmark over the long term. Investors are better off picking lower cost funds that invest globally, but passively.
